The realm of PC gaming and Console Gaming had been at odds with each other for the longest time. This comes mostly in the form of shenanigans being shared on both sides, poking fun at which system has the better games and/or gaming experience.
Lately, however, there’s less joking and more eager anticipation with the arrival of powerful portable PCs that aim to narrow the gap between gaming systems.
For 2023’s Tokyo Game Show, it seems ROG is the one to successfully cross that divide as the all-powerful portable gaming device, making its presence felt at the prestigious gaming event.
The bridge between this gap comes in the form of the ROG Ally–as its fits perfectly into the ranks of ASUS ROG’s roster of premium gaming devices.
Game Publishers show their support for the ROG Ally
ASUS ROG taking part in Tokyo Game Show isn’t exactly new. When we first covered Tokyo Game Show last 2016 the brand already had tremendous presence, with towering booths and bright, shiny tech showcases in a sea of game publishing booths and a cavalcade of triple-A games. For 2023, ROG’s brand felt more pervasive than ever, and that’s thanks largely to their portable powerhouse, the ROG Ally.
This year, we were able to sample a host of games from various publishers on the ROG Ally – anywhere from Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 and Monster Hunter Rise, to From Software‘s Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, and Koei Tecmo‘s brand new Fate/Samurai Remnant.
Even HoYoverse showed a bit of love by not only having the ever-popular Genshin Impact featured at the ROG booth but also having ROG Allys of their own running Honkai Impact 3rd on their homebase.
There’s a conscious effort to spread the word that you can have a zero-compromise, triple-A gaming experience on the go with a device such as this. The ROG Ally Z1 and Z1 Extreme boast two variants of the powerful Ryzen™ Z1 processor, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 512GB of storage ensure that you can enjoy all the frames and hitboxes that Street Fighter 6 can dish out.
Here are more games we tried with the ROG Ally within Tokyo Game Show 2023.
But it’s not just the ROG Ally getting some love from renowned publishers at Tokyo Game Show. A host of other ROG products are getting similar treatment like the ROG Strix Scar 18, their first 18-inch gaming laptop; their portable transforming gaming device, the ROG Flow X-13; and the ROG Zephyrus Duo along with other TUF Gaming Devices including the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 Advantage Edition (2023) are showcasing prominent games from Square and EA to name a few.
Console Gaming Experience and then some
We actually brought the ASUS ROG Ally AMD Ryzen™ Z1 with us on our Japan trip for our coverage of the Tokyo Game Show 2023 and have been playing a host of games on our downtime.
The handy gaming device had us play through Resident Evil 4 Remake, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Mortal Kombat 1 with absolute ease. We also chose to wind down to some less demanding, yet equally challenging title such as Hades, Blasphemous, and Papers, Please. It’s safe to say we ran the gauntlet through our game library.
Also, thanks to its speedy WIFI 6 connectivity, it was a breeze to download, boot up, and update any new games that found their way into our rotation.
Continuing Gaming Innovations & Bringing Gamers Together
If there’s one thing we can expect from ASUS ROG, it’s their unwavering commitment in bringing sound solutions to gamers regardless of their gaming preference. Focusing both on constant tech innovations and upgrades has been the brand’s hallmark and with their more holistic involvement in Tokyo Game Show 2023, we’re confident that they have what it takes to break the digital divide between Console Gamers and PC Gamers–and to an extent, even those who choose to go Mobile.
“The product line of ROG has been growing together with the community’s demand for improvements in the gaming scene. We have the best gaming laptops, smartphones, desktop, monitors, peripherals & accessories, and the recently introduced gaming console – ROG Ally,” says George Su, Country Manager – System Business Group, ASUS Philippines Corporation.
“These continuous introductions to new innovative products exhibit ASUS ROG’s appreciation of its community. When you seek innovation, rest assured that the Republic is there to deliver.”
The ROG Ally is now available in 2 variants, the AMD Ryzen™ Z1 Extreme and the more budget-conscious AMD Ryzen™ Z1 with a starting SRP of Php 39,995 for their 16GB LPDDR5 and 512GB internal storage variant with 2 years international warranty and free preventive ASUS maintenance as well as 90 days XBOX Game Pass included.
