GASHAPON Manila is opening in Mitsukoshi BGC this month

No need to visit Japan to get your gashapon fix!

Great news for Pinoy otakus and lovers of all things cute – GASHAPON Manila is opening in Mitsukoshi BGC this November!

Gashapon (or gachapon as they’re also called) is a popular vending machine hailing from Japan that dispenses capsule toys. Anyone who’s interested in Japanese pop culture and toys will definitely be familiar with them. After all, these capsule machines are everywhere in Japan’s major cities, dispensing capsules with cute collectibles.

These machines can also be found in the Philippines at some toy stores, as well as in anime/cosplay events. Though this month, the first dedicated gashapon store in the country will open at Mitsukoshi BGC.

This upcoming store is a Bandai Namco official shop, and it is designed to look like the dedicated gacha stores found in Japan. This is great news for those who can’t make it to Japan yet and want to experience gacha heaven, as well as for those with a heavy dose of Japan sepanx.

The store got a lot of attention online when its layout and design was shared by architecture studio TANHUANCO+ANDALUZ. Thankfully, the wait won’t be long as GASHAPON Manila is set to open very soon.

It will be located at Mitsukoshi BGC, the mall which serves as the first PH outpost of Mitsukoshi, the popular Japanese department store. This location makes sense considering Mitsukoshi BGC is home to lots of stores that are straight from Japan.

While this gashapon shop is set to open this November, though a specific release date has not been mentioned yet.
