In a recent event in Korea, Nier: Automata creator Yoko Taro and producer Yosuke Saito revealed that they’re working on a new game, and it won’t be an entry in the Nier series.
Taro and Saito took part in the G-STAR 2023 event in Korea recently where they talked about the production of Nier: Automata as well as their future plans. There, Saito said that Nier fans won’t have to worry as more games in the series will be released so long as Taro is still alive.
Though fans will need to wait a while longer for the next proper installment in the series. That’s because Taro and Saito have a new project that they’re working on that’s not part of the Nier franchise.
It’s not clear what this new project will be, but at least Saito promised that they’ll reveal more info about it sometime next year.

Since Nier Automata’s release, has worked as the creative director on other games like SINoALICE, Voice of Cards, and Nier Reincarnation. These are all smaller in scale to Nier: Automata though, so it’ll be interesting what new game Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito is currently cooking up.
In the meantime, while fans can’t expect a new Nier game, the franchise will continue to get collabs with other titles. Just a few months ago, NIKKE had a crossover with Nier which added 2B, A2, and Pascal into the game.
