Final Fantasy fans got nice treats at the Game Awards 2023 as it was revealed that Final Fantasy XVI is getting two story DLCs, namely Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide.
These new DLCs come as a surprise as many fans weren’t expecting the game to get new story content. What’s more, the first of these — Echoes of the Fallen — is now available. The DLC can be bought as a standalone purchase, though players also have the choice of buying the Expansion Pass.
In Echoes of the Fallen, players can experience new story content that will take place before the story’s end. Specifically, players will follow Clive and his friends as they investigate a group of traders involved in spreading dark crystals on the black market. This leads them to an abandoned Fallen tower called the Sagespire which contains terrible secrets.
Along with this new story, the DLC also features new weapons, accessories, and an increased level cap.
As for The Rising Tide, the second of the Final Fantasy XVI DLCs will feature new challenges, and it will feature a confrontation between Clive and Leviathan, the legendary Eikon whom fans have long hoped to see as DLC. This next content pack will be released in Spring 2024.
