In what is perhaps an unexpected announcement, PlayStation and Santa Monica Studios revealed the God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla DLC at The Game Awards 2023.
Releasing DLCs hasn’t exactly been God of War’s style, though this new content pack is unlike releases such as Horizon’s Burning Shores. Instead, this is a free DLC pack that will add a roguelike-inspired game mode. This is great news if you’re a God of War fan looking for a Returnal-like experience.

This DLC does have a story component. Specifically, it follows Kratos as he is brough to the shores of Valhalla alongside Mimir after Odin’s defeat and Atreus’ departure.
Along with the new roguelite game mode, Valhalla will also bring various cosmetic items. It will also have five difficulty settings, with increased rewards on higher difficulty levels. This is great for players who may be intimated by the rogulite mechanics of this DLC.
The God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla DLC is coming to PS5 and PS4 on December 12, 2023. This DLC will be free to download for all owners of the game.
