Following its reveal last year, PlayStation finally announced the release date of Rise of the Ronin, the latest game from Team Ninja.
Unlike Team Ninja’s previous release Wo Long, Ronin will be a PlayStation-exclusive title at launch. As its title implies, this game is set in Japan, and it will feature intense action gameplay that promises to give players a tough yet rewarding challenge.
You can check out the new pre-order trailer for the game (which was shared at The Game Awards 2023) here:
Based on this new trailer, Ronin is rather reminiscent of other medieval Japan-set games such as Sekiro and Ghost of Tsushima. Of course, that’s not to say that this doesn’t have an identity of its own. Aside from the intense action shown in the trailer, what seems to be the game’s unique feature is the inclusion of guns.
It may seem to some that samurai and ronin exclusively used swords, guns were used back in medieval Japan. So, it’ll be interesting to see how this will factor into the game’s melee combat.
Along with the trailer, PlayStation also revealed the game’s Digital Deluxe edition (SGD 109 / MYR 339 / THB 2,590 / IDR 1,179,000) which will feature all the pre-order incentives, along with Iga Ninja’s Staff, Toyokuni Paired Swords, Bando Warrior Armor set, and Japanese Formal Wear set.
Rise of the Ronin will be released exclusively for PS5 on March 22, 2024. Pre-orders for the game on the PlayStation Store open tomorrow, December 14, 2023.
