After a two-week break due to the Metro Manila Film Festival, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom finally returns to Philippine cinemas today, January 8.
Previously, the latest Aquaman film was released in cinemas a few days before Christmas, though it was removed in most cinemas to make way for the MMFF 2023 movies (as is the case every year). Of course, DC fans were still able to watch it in IMAX and other select theaters.
Finally, as it has been two weeks since MMFF, Warner Bros. announced that it is bringing back Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to Philippine cinemas today, January 8. This means fans can watch (or rewatch) the film in regular cinemas nationwide.
Lost Kingdom is the long-awaited sequel to DC’s mega-hit Aquaman film in 2018. This sequel’s story is described as:
“Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.”
