At CES 2024, realme announced that its upcoming 12 Pro Series will feature a flagship periscope telephoto lens. With this, the next realme phone will have a much deeper zoom that will help it capture shots from afar, as well as impressive portrait photos.
Previously, realme launched the GT5 Pro which was the brand’s first phone with a periscope telephoto camera. Soon, realme is launching another periscope camera-equipped device — the realme 12 Pro Series.
This new phone promises to deliver even better photography capabilities as its telephoto shooter allows it to capture images with up to 120x digital zoom. It will also feature a 3X Portrait Mode with a 71mm golden portrait focal length. Thanks to this, the phone promises to capture photos with a naturally shallow depth of field.
Aside from the periscope telephoto lens, the realme 12 Pro Series’ camera also features a OV64B flagship sensor with a 1.2-inch size — twice as large as the telephoto sensor on the iPhone 15 Pro. Thanks to this, the telephoto shooter is more light-sensitive, meaning it should result in better zoomed-in nighttime photos.
For its main camera, the realme 12 Pro Series comes with Sony IMX890 OIS shooter which also promises to deliver excellent low light photos. OIS should also help give the phone more stable video recording capabilities.
Moving to the software side, realme also collaborated with Qualcomm for enhanced image processing which realme calls the MasterShot Algorithm. With this, the realme 12 Pro Series will be able to process RAW domains for cinematic portraits. The phone’s image processing capabilities also promise to help when it comes to night photography and portraits.
Finally, realme announced that it has collaborated with Ollivier Savéo for the realme 12 Pro Series’ design. Savéo has previously collaborated with Swiss watch brands such as Rolex and Piaget. His high-end watch design expertise promises to give the new realme smartphone lineup a more luxe look and feel.
The realme 12 Pro Series is set to launch globally in January, though there’s no word yet on a launch date for the Philippines. For the latest updates, visit the official realme Facebook page and website.
