Ahead of Dune: Part Two’s theatrical release, Warner Bros. Pictures announced that the first part of Dune is coming back to IMAX cinemas in the Philippines.
The original Dune was released in cinemas in most of the world back in 2021, and at the time, many PH cinemas were still closed due to quarantine restrictions. Because of this, many Pinoy sci-fi fans weren’t able to watch the first part of Dune.
Finally, the film is coming to PH IMAX cinemas beginning February 7. What’s more, it will come with a special sneak peek at Dune: Part Two.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve (of Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 fame), Dune is a two-part film adaptation of the sci-fi classic Dune by Frank Herbert.
Part one’s premise is described as:
“A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet), a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.”
Just a few weeks after its IMAX return, Dune: Part Two will be released in cinemas in the Philippines on February 28.
