In case you missed it, Netflix held a special event for Avatar: The Last Airbender in Manila which featured appearances from Gordon Cormier (Aang) and Dallas Liu (Zuko).
During the Avatar: The Last Airbender Manila event, Cormier and Liu were warmly received. There, they spent a whole day on activities featuring regional press and influencers in the country to promote Netflix’s big new live-action project. The two also participated in a press conference where they shared their experiences during the show’s production.
Regarding his casting, Cormier shared that it was a life-changing experience as not only was he able to play such a beloved character, but he also felt that he grew alongside Aang. Cormier also said that it was a challenge to portray Aang’s emotional side, but as a jolly person, he was able to portray Aang’s happier side more easily.
Meanwhile, the Prince Zuko actor Liu said: “Ireally had to tap into the negativity of Prince Zuko and what he’s going through. There are different points in my life that I have to pull from specifically that I think worked well for specific scenes.” This makes sense considering the dark and emotional story of Zuko that explains why there’s a cloud of negativity over him.
Following the press conference, the two joined in on some Avatar activities at the cinema area, complete with a surprise appearance during the fan screening to the delight of the lucky fans.
The screening featured the initial episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and it was attended by nearly 300 media representatives and fans.
Avatar: The Last Airbender is now streaming exclusively on Netflix.
