The Holdovers is coming to cinemas in the Philippines this February

The Holdovers is coming to the Philippines exclusively in Ayala Malls Cinemas.

The critically acclaimed comedy-drama film The Holdovers finally has a Philippines cinema release date.

Following its release in the US back in October, this award-winning movie is finally set to release in PH cinemas on February 21, exclusively in Ayala Malls Cinemas.

Directed by Alexander Payne, this film is set in 1970s New England and follows a strict classics teacher who must accompany a selection of students who stay at the boarding school over the Christmas break.

The film’s premise is described as:

“The Holdovers follows a grumpy instructor (Paul Giamatti) at a prestigious American school who is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. Eventually he forms an unlikely bond with one of them – a damaged, brainy troublemaker (newcomer Dominic Sessa) – and with the school’s head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam (Da’Vine Joy Randolph).”

When the film premiered in Telluride back in August, The Holdovers won over critics with its touching story. The film went on to win Golden Globe and other awards. Plus, it was one of the best-reviewed movies of the year on Letterboxd, taking the fifth spot.

The Holdovers will be released in Ayala Malls Cinemas in the Philippines on February 21, 2024. More info on screening times and locations will be shared on Sureseats.
