One of the many phenomenal things about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is its presentation. It’s a beautiful game. Plain and simple. The developers have somehow managed to significantly improve upon the already fantastic looking Final Fantasy VII Remake. The massive scale of the environments and the excellent character models breathe all new life into the beloved classic. However, some fans have voiced out their concerns with drops in visual quality when playing in performance mode. During our interview with game director Naoki Hamaguchi, he confirmed that a Final Fantasy VII Rebirth graphics fix is being worked on and that it’ll be coming sometime soon.
“We have had a lot of feedback whether graphics in the performance mode will be improved or not. We are hearing this and as we’re speaking right now, the team is working on a patch that aims to fix this. While I can’t say any more specifics as to what else will come with that update, just know that it’ll be coming soon.”
Since Rebirth’s release, there have been some online chatter about how in certain situations or character positions, the shadows on some of the characters can create some scary looking facial lighting. It is confirmed that the patch is going to directly address this issue.
When we were playing Rebirth during the review period, we played in both graphics and performance mode pretty extensively. We personally didn’t encounter too many significant visual issues. It makes us think that you’d really have to go out of your way to look for these “scary faces.” However, with the confirmation of the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth graphics fix being worked on, it is nice to know that the team is still trying to perfect their game as much as they can. Even though we already think that it is.
