OPPO highlights strategic collaborations with tech startups

OPPO recently highlighted a range of tech startups that it is collaborating with to develop exciting new technologies.

OPPO is a big player in the smartphone market, but the brand is also keen on exploring breakthrough technologies by collaborating with a variety of tech startups.

While there are 150 million startups worldwide and another 50 million launching each year, 1 in 5 of these startups fail in the first year. Recognizing this, OPPO has been actively collaborating with a range of startup companies to help them grow and develop new technologies.

For instance, there’s AlpsenTek, a startup specializing in machine vision. The company leveraged OPPO’s financial and technical support to develop the hybrid vision sensor ALPIX-Eiger. OPPO also helped lead the development of a set of AI Motion algorithms that can process the information from ALPIX-Eger sensor to de-blur images. This can soon have potential for imaging tech in upcoming smartphones.

Next, there’s DeepMirror which recently showcased its upcoming AR game at MWC 2024 via OPPO. This game is called MirrorVerse, and it allows visitors to interact with real environments inside games.

Aside from extended reality startups, OPPO also had partnership with companies like HUAYI Medical Technologies which specialize in contactless health monitoring tech. Among these is the “WonTrackR” which can be placed anywhere at the home to monitor the family’s various health metrics unobtrusively.

Speaking of health, there’s also CloudSteth which has an auscultation system that can automatically heart and lung sounds through AI to help children with pneumonia, asthma, and congenital heart disease to get diagnosed early.

These health technologies can be useful for consumer tech. Take for instance the OHealth H1 family health monitor which was unveiled back in INNO DAY 2022. Soon, OPPO will work with HUAYI and CloudSteth to conduct clinical trials aimed at increasing the accuracy of AI algorithms in data monitoring for products like the family health monitor.

Finally, there are startups with technologies that have more direct benefits for OPPO smartphones. There’s Tangtangquan  which developed a digital therapeutic solution that OPPO used for the OPPO Watch 3 and 4 so it can monitor blood glucose better.

Plus, there’s Bluepha Co. which developed a green plastic alternative that was made into a phone case for the OPPO Find N2 Flip.

“At OPPO, we understand the diverse needs of startups. We offer comprehensive support, including funding, technology, and marketing, to foster their growth and extend the benefits of technology to more people.  Through these strategies, startups such as AlpsenTek, HUAYI, and CloudSteth are expected to apply their innovations to real life,” said Yan Ren, Director of Open Innovation Europe, OPPO. “As AI has become one of the most promising areas these days, OPPO is actively entering this space and seeking further collaboration with startups to unlock new possibilities with AI.”

OPPO isn’t ending with these companies though as the brand affirmed its goals of supporting more tech startups in the future.
