SEGA recently announced that it is bringing Shadow of the Ninja to PS5, PS4, and Switch this August in Japan and Asian markets.
You’ll be forgiven if you’re unfamiliar with this game. That’s because it’s a side-scrolling action game that was released on the NES way back in 1990. In this game, players take on the role of ninjas who are sent to a futuristic New York to assassinate an evil dictator.
As a 90s classic, this game promises to be quite a challenge as there are only five chances to continue after getting a game over. On the flip side, this game features a co-op mode so you and a friend can take on the challenge together.
For this re-release, developer NatsumeAtari is back together with TENGO PROJECT’s iconic 16-bit style. Also back for this release is Iku Mizutani, the composer of the original Shadow of the Ninja, Shatterhand, and the Medabots series. He returns to score the music in Shadow of the Ninja.
Finally, character designs and visuals are once again handled by Dynamic Production, a company that handles the management of manga artists, novelists, and manga authors. One of their most well-known manga authors is Go Nagai, the legendary manga artist of Devilman fame.
Shadow of the Ninja will be released on PS5, PS4, and Switch on August 29, 2024.
