The new anime season is here, and now, Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf is now streaming on Netflix in select Asian countries.
Yes, Spice and Wolf is back after over a decade since the release of Season 2, though it’s not a proper sequel like the upcoming Kimi ni Todoke Season 3. Instead, this new anime is another adaptation, thereby making it a reboot.
Currently, the first episode has been released on Netflix in select countries, including the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, and India.
As shown in the first episode, this anime’s events should largely follow the story of the first two seasons, though it’ll be interesting to see if there will be changes to make it closer to the source material.
This series is a fantasy romance that follows the merchant Kraft Lawrence who meets the wolf spirit Holo who was originally the deity of a village that grows wheat. Growing tired of this role, Holo joins Lawrence in his travels as a merchant.
While it’s not the most exciting series action-wise, Spice and Wolf more than makes up for this with its romance element, as well as its interesting world. Plus, it also has a major dose of economics which surprisingly works.
New episodes of Spice and Wolf are released weekly on Netflix in select Asian countries every Tuesday. Meanwhile, anime fans in other regions can watch the show on Crunchyroll.
