Following the recent media briefing, Tokyo Game Show announced the main sponsors for its new Selected Indie 80 initiative, and it features several well-known publishers in the gaming and manga space.
To be exact, the sponsors for TGS 2024’s new indie initiative include Sony Interactive Entertainment, Nintendo, KODANSHA Game Creator’s Lab, Happinet, PLAYISM, iGi indie Game incubator, and ELSA Japan.
So, what exactly is Selected Indie 80? Well, it’s an expansion of Tokyo Game Show’s push to highlight more indie games from across the region. Back in 2013, TGS set up its Indie Game Area, and it has since become a major showcase of independently-made titles for publishers and gamers.
With Selected Indie 80, Tokyo Game Show will give indie game developers a chance to freely exhibit their game at the upcoming 2024 event. Entries being accepted now until April 30, and as the name implies, 80 games will be selected. The developers of these games will receive free support, including an exhibition booth and PC/monitor rental from the sponsors listed above.
Specifically, here are what selected titles will get:
- A dedicated booth will be set up in the Indie Game Area at the Makuhari Messe venue.
- 5 exhibitor passes
- Internet WiFi Access at the booth (no guaranteed bandwidth)
- Posting exhibitor names on the TGS official website “Exhibitor List/Selected Indie 80” page
- Exhibitor introduction pages (Japanese and English) are provided
- Exhibited titles will be posted on the TGS special site installed on Steam (if titles for Steam are available)
- Use of TGS Business Matching System
Entries are accepted now until April 30, 2024, at 5 PM JST (4 PM PHT). For more info, visit the official website.
Tokyo Game Show 2024 is happening from September 26 to 29, 2024, at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
