With the game’s release just a month away, Atlus shared new info on Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, including new demons, mechanics, sub quests, and more.
To start, three new Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance demons were unveiled which include:
Onyankopon – A sky god of the Ashanti people and other tribes in West Africa. An alias of the supreme god Nyame, said to mean “the all-knowing and all-seeing.”
Anansi – A folkloric hero of the Ashanti and other tribes in West Africa. He is depicted as a trickster who gets by on his wit and cunning.
Nyami Nyami – The Zambezi River god of the Tonga and Lozi tribes of southern Africa. He has the body of a snake and the head of a fish or dragon. He is said to protect people near the water and provide them with food.
Along with the demons, Atlus, also shared new info on mechanics such as learning Miracles. By using the currency Glory, the Nahobino can gain new Miracles which will aid in exploring the Da’at or battling enemies or battling enemies.
There’s also the new Miracle called Estoma Field. This technique allows you to produce a magical barrier by using up some of the Magatsuhi Gauge. When active, you will not be detected by enemies, and if you do end up encountering an enemy, you’ll be able to avoid battle.
For strengthening demons, there’s also the Essence Fusion where Essences (aka copied, astral forms of demons’ abilities) can be fused with demonic allies to change their affinity resistances and skills.
Players will also get to enjoy Sub Quests which give out various rewards. One of these quests is “Return of the True Demon” — a DLC sub quest from the original Shin Megami Tensei V that’s included in teh base game.
Finally, players can also enjoy these other mechanics and additions:
- Virtual Trainer – You’ll be able to make use of the virtual trainer via the Terminal Room in the Diet Building. The virtual trainer allows you to challenge past foes in either a single fight or a gauntlet of battles. You can face them at their original strength in Original Mode or take on even more powerful versions of them in Challenge Mode. Each time you complete Challenge Mode, the enemies’ levels will increase by 100. Being defeated will still result in a game over, so it is recommended that you save before using the virtual trainer.
- New Maximum Level – Fulfilling certain conditions will unlock Moral Transcendence a new Miracle that allows you to raise the level cap of the Nahobino and his allies from 99 to 150.
- Revisit the story with New Game+ – Upon clearing the game, you can carry over your previous data and keep your demons’ stats in a fresh, new playthrough. Choose between 3 options according to your playstyle, including the all-new Godborn option—which has special requirements to unlock.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on June 14, 2024. Players who will purchase the game early will also get bonuses such as special Playing Cards.
