During Star Wars day, The Acolyte star Manny Jacinto shared a for Pinoy Star Wars fans to further hype up the show’s premiere this June.
To be exact, Disney+ shared the Filipino-Canadian actor’s special message on May the Fourth aka Star Wars Day. It may be a short message, but it does feature clips from the upcoming series which should get fans even more excited. You can check it out here:
The Acolyte star Manny Jacinto is an actor best known for roles such as Lieutenant Billy “Fritz” Avalone in Top Gun: Maverick and Jason Mendoza in The Good Place. In this upcoming series, Jacinto plays Qimir, a former smuggler who will cross paths with the show’s protagonists.
For those who missed its announcement, The Acolyte is the next Star Wars live-action series, and it’s an exciting one as it will be set in the High Republic Era — 100 years before The Phantom Menace. It follows a Jedi Master played by Lee Jung-jae (of Squid Game fame) who investigates a series of crimes that lead him to conflict with a former padawan.
Aside from its cast, the series also also has some well-known creators. For starters, its showrunner is Leslye Headland of Netflix’s Russian doll. Meanwhile, Kogonada (of Pachinko and After Yang) is directing two episodes for the show.
Star Wars: The Acolyte will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on June 5. Much like the previous Star Wars shows on Disney+, The Acolyte’s two first episodes will be released on the fifth, after which one new episode will be released weekly.
