Acer introduces the SpatialLabs Eyes Stereo camera

Acer's new camera captures 3D images and videos.

As part of its range of SpatialLabs 3D devices, Acer recently launched the SpatialLabs Eyes Stereo camera, a small point-and-shoot camera that can capture images in stereoscopic 3D.

To be exact, this camera is a small device with 8MP per eye resolution, and it’s coupled with a built-in selfie mirror and a weatherproof exterior. Thanks to this, the camera should be a great partner for taking photos outdoors such as nature or city landscapes. What’s more, the camera features enhanced electronic image stabilization (EIS) for steady footage when capturing video

Even though 3D cameras seem like something that’s not made for newbies, the point-and-shoot build of it should make it a good match for budding photographers. Of course, the camera does have a manual mode for ISO, white balance, and shutter speed control made for more advanced users.

Aside from using it to take 3D photos and videos, the SpatialLabs 3D camera from Acer also has a real-time 3D streaming option through the Acer SpatialLabs Player 3.0. You can even use the camera for 3D video chatting soon as the SpatialLabs video call widget will be released later this year, featuring 3D video integration with Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet.

As a bonus, the 3D photos and videos from the SpatialLabs camera can be viewed easily on Acer SpatialLabs laptops or displays, as well as on VR/AR headsets.

“The SpatialLabs Eyes Stereo Camera completes Acer’s stereoscopic 3D portfolio, providing solutions from content capturing and creation, to display and interaction,” said Jerry Kao, COO, Acer Inc. “We hope to empower users to capture the world around them in stunning stereoscopic 3D through the new camera and we’re excited to see the possibilities and the amazing content they will be able to create and share.”

Pricing and availability details of the new Acer 3D camera will vary by region and will be announced soon.

In related news, Acer also launched three new Predator gaming monitors for 2024.
