Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is coming in just a few weeks, and many players may be wondering what the recommended level is for the DLC.
As it’s confirmed by FromSoftware to be unlocked after defeating Radahn and Mohg, it’s fair to say that players will need to be at a level that can survive the endgame phase. During our recent media hands-on preview with the new DLC though, we can finally confirm the game’s recommended level, at least based on the premade characters for the demo.
Upon booting up the hands-on demo version, there are three character builds to choose from (Knight, Warrior, and Sorcerer), and all of them are at Rune Level 150. As such, the Shadow of the Erdtree recommended level is 150 if you want to get the “intended” experience.
Of course, this is based on the hands-on that we got, meaning your character isn’t required to be at Level 150. After all, lots of players have defeated the base game at lower levels, with some even beating it at level 1.
There’s also the fact that the DLC features its own upgrade mechanic through Scadutree Blessings. These items enhance a player’s damage and damage negation against the Land of Shadows’ enemies and bosses. Thus, even lower-level players should be able to output good damage with these blessings.
On the flip side, because of this upgrade mechanic, there doesn’t seem to be a huge incentive to enter the DLC at a higher level. It can still help though if you find the need to have more health or FP.
As for recommended stats for Shadow of the Erdtree, ideally you’d want to reach the soft cap of your character’s main damage skill. You’d also want to aim for around 50 vigor at the minimum and mid-20s for Endurance. For reference, the Knight class in the hands-on which I used had 51 Vigor and 80 Dexterity (yes, the Knight has a Dex build).
It should also go without saying that your weapons need to be fully upgraded if you want to survive as the hands-on classes all had +25 weapons (+10 for special weapons that need Somber Smithing Stones).
Again, these are just recommended stats and weapons as there are certainly players who want an even bigger challenge. No doubt we’ll see RL1 runs of the DLC with no Scadutree Blessings soon after the DLC is released.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on June 21, 2024.
