Square Enix unveils Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake launch and more at Nintendo Direct

Here are all of Square Enix's big announcements at the recent Nintendo Direct.

Square Enix had three big reveals at the June 2024 Nintendo Direct, including a remake of the Dragon Quest III, coupled with two more re-releases of beloved RPGs.

Perhaps the highlight of the Square Enix announcements is the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake launch date. This is a full-fledged remake of the classic game in the style of Octopath Traveler, meaning it will retain the familiar classic JRPG style of the original but modernized and made more accessible.

This game was announced way back in 2021, though it is only now that it has a proper trailer and release date. To be exact, players will be able to play this game on Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on November 14, 2024. Then in 2025, the Dragon Quest I and II HD-2D Remake will also be released.

Aside from Dragon Quest, Square Enix also revealed the full HD remake of Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, the beloved second entry in the Romancing SaGa.

This remake will be released on PS5, PS4, Switch, and PC via Steam on October 24, 2024

Rounding out the lineup is FANTASIAN Neo Dimension. Unlike the previous two titles, this is not a classic RPG from decades ago. Instead, it’s a an enhanced version of the 2021 mobile RPG that was produced and written by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi.

This game was released only on Apple devices previously, but it is now set to be released on Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC this winter.
