Over a year after the release of Necrom, Bethesda announced that The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road is finally out now on PC and Mac, and it is the game’s eighth expansion pack. It is also part of Shadow Over Morrowind which is the game’s multi-year story arc.
This new chapter for the game adds 30 hours of main quest content that takes place in West Weald. This is an Imperial Province that should be familiar to long-time fans as it appeared in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. In this area, players can explore the city of Skingrad along with Dawnwood which will feature a bunch of side quests, bosses, and more.
Also part of the new expansion is the all-new Scribing system. With this, players can craft and customize their abilities using unique scripts. Thanks to this, players can better fit their abilities to their chosen playstyle and build.
An ESO expansion isn’t complete without new rewards, and Gold Road is no exception as it comes with 10 powerful item sets, three unique Mythic items, the new collectible called Skill Styles.
Finally, the expansion adds a new 12-player group trial called the Lucent Citadel, along with a Daedric vault in Fargrave.
Outside of the paid content, ESO also has the new Update 42, a free update that features a bunch of improvements such as an overhaul to the in-game mail, interface, and notifications. More details about the update can be found on the website.
Gold Road is available now in four versions, including:
- Deluxe Collection: Gold Road
- Collection: Gold Road
- Deluxe Upgrade: Gold Road
- Upgrade: Gold Road
Both Collection versions come with the base game and all the previous chapters. Meanwhile, the Upgrade versions are for players who already own ESO.
