Following their debut at the S2 Invitational, BOOM Esports is now set for a face off against Team RRQ to secure a slot at the Honor of Kings Esports World Cup.
Shortly after the game’s launch, the Honor of Kings Invitational 2024 Season 2 was held in Kuala Lumpur, and it saw 13 teams face off not only for the USD 300,00 prize pool, but also to qualify for the Honor of Kings Invitational Midseason 2024 at the Esports World Cup.
By the end of the tournament, eight teams secured their slots for the Esports World Cup, though there is still one slot open which will be contested by the Philippines’ BOOM Esports and Indonesia’s Team RRQ Honor of Kings squads.
These two teams will face off at the Esports World Cup (EWC) SEA Showdown which will take place on July 30 at Boulevard Riyadh City, STC Play Gaming Hall. Essentially, you can think of it as a wildcard qualifier, though only these two teams will participate.
Given the Philippines and Indonesia’s impressive performances in other MOBAs, this clash will no doubt be a must-watch for MOBA fans in Southeast Asia. Best of all, it will be a best-of-five series, meaning there’s potential for close and hard-fought games.
As for the Esports World Cup, the Honor of Kings Invitational Midseason 2024 will happen between August 1 to 4, 2024.
