Chainsaw Man creator’s ‘Look Back’ anime film is coming to Philippine cinemas this month

Tatsuki Fujimoto fans are in for a treat this month!

After the Spy x Family movie earlier this year, Encore Films has confirmed that it will bring the anime film Look Back to cinemas in the Philippines this month.

The film’s PH release was confirmed via Encore Film’s official Facebook page. There, it was revealed that the movie will be released in PH cinemas on August 28. It will also have a nationwide release, meaning anime fans all over the country should be able to watch this movie.

In case you’re unfamiliar though, Look Back is an anime film that’s based on the one-shot manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, the renowned author of popular manga like Chainsaw Man and Fire Punch.

While Look Back may not be an action-packed series like Chainsaw Man, the manga has been widely praised for its moving story and memorable characters.

Instead of a notable studio like MAPPA handling animation duties for this anime film, the Look Back movie is produced by Studio Durian and is directed and written by Kiyotaka Oshiyama. The film premiered at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival where it got praise for its animation.

In Japan, the film was released on June 28. As such, it’s great news for Pinoy anime fans that the movie’s PH release is quite early compared to other anime films.

For now, there’s no word yet on an official cinema list, though we expect there to be more details revealed soon.
