This new brand identity will be rolled out beginning on July 25 at the San Diego Comic-Con. There, fans in attendance will get to see the updated look at the Crunchyroll Concert Series which will feature appearances from J-Pop superstar LiSA, hyperpop artist Alice Longyu Gao, and the One Piece 25th Anniversary: Symphonic Voyage concert.
There will also be a new streetwear collection inspired by Crunchyroll’s updated style, with designs by 2024 CFDA Fashion Fund finalist Sebastian Ami. After SDCC, anime fans can see this revamped look for Crunchyroll across events and various promotions over the next year.
As for the new look, while the main logo remains mostly similar at first glance, the Crunchyroll word font has been changed called Crunchyroll Atyp. This new font was chosen to improve readability. Plus, the eye symbol has also been balanced to better fit the new wordmark.
Crunchyroll’s signature colors have also been given an update, complete with a new glyph system with over 139 anime and manga-inspired characters.
“As the number of ‘anime-curious’ people approaches the one billion mark, and anime continues to command a prominent place in popular culture, we wanted to evolve the Crunchyroll brand to appeal to a growing diversity of global fans without losing the core essence of what fans have loved about Crunchyroll along the way,” said Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll. “We believe this new brand evolution will encourage and welcome many anime fans to deepen their love for years to come.”
This new brand identity for the anime streaming giant was headed by Crunchyroll’s Markus Gerdemann (Senior Vice President, Marketing) and Norman Rabinovich (Vice President, Creative Services).
