Ridley Scott is back with the long-awaited Gladiator sequel, and now, Gladiator II finally has an official cinema release date in the Philippines. To be exact, the new Gladiator movie will be released in PH cinemas on November 20..
The first Gladiator movie was released way back in 2000. Given that this sequel comes two decades after, Gladiator II features an all-new cast. You can see more of them in the latest trailer that was released here:
As shown in the trailer, Gladiator II is a star-studded film as it features popular actors such as Paul Mescal (Calum in Aftersun), Pedro Pascal (Joel in The Last of Us), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta in Wonder Woman), and Denzel Washington (Robert in The Equalizer).
Given the new cast, it should come as no surprise that this movie features a story that’s set years after the first movie. Specifically, Gladiator II takes place two decades after the first film. It follows Lucius Verus, the grandson of former Emperor Marcus Aurelius.
While Lucius lives a quite life, Roman soldiers led by Marcus Acacius invade and force him to slavery. Lucius is then forced to fight as a gladiator.
Gladiator II will release in cinemas in the Philippines on November 20, 2024, with more release details to be shared in the coming months.
