Following its theatrical run back in May, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is finally confirmed to release on Disney+ worldwide this August.
To be exact, the latest entry in the Planet of the Apes reboot series is coming to Disney+ on August 2. This is great news for fans who missed seeing it in cinemas, as well as for those eager to rewatch the next chapter in the franchise.
In case you need a refresher (given that it has been seven years since the release of War for the Planet of the Apes), Kingdom is a movie that’s set 300 years after the initial trilogy. This means Ceasar is long gone, and now the film features a new protagonist named Noa.
Given the gap between War and Kingdom, this latest movie is a standalone sequel, meaning those who haven’t seen the first three movies should be able to follow the story with no issues.
Speaking of its story, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes sees humans regress to caveman-like behavior, with most being unable to speak. The film follows Noa, a young chimpanzee hunter who goes on a journey that will decide the future for both apes and humans.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is coming to Disney+ around the world on August 2, 2024.
In the meantime, the previous three movies in the Planet of the Apes reboot series are also streaming now on Disney+.
