After releasing the more affordable A60 recently, OPPO is now gearing up to launch the Reno12 Series 5G in the Philippines on July 12.
This new series is billed by OPPO as its new AI Phone lineup as it features a bunch of AI features for photography and connectivity. For this smartphone series, OPPO has two versions that it will launch: the OPPO Reno12 5G and OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G.
One of the highlight AI features of the phone is the AI Eraser 2.0. While this isn’t the first AI Eraser in an OPPO phone, this is an enhanced version that has a “Remove People” option for easy and fast removal of people in the background. This is on top of the Smart Lasso and Paint Over options from the previous version.
Along with the enhanced AI Eraser, there’s also the AI Studio, a pre-installed app that lets users transform their photo into a digital avatar or profile picture. It features a bunch of creative filters and likenesses that users can choose from.
AI photography enhancements aside, the Reno12 Series 5G lineup also packs 50MP cameras. To be exact, the Reno12 5G features a 50MP Sony LYT-600 Sensor with PDAF and OIS. Meanwhile, the Reno12 Pro 5G also has a 50MP telephoto portrait shooter.
Both the base and Pro models also pack selfie shooters with AI Portrait capabilities, supporting both autofocus and an enhanced Portrait Mode. The selfie shooter on both phones also has a Natural Tone feature that automatically adjusts the exposure based on the scene.
The lineup’s AI capabilities aren’t just limited to its cameras though as the Reno12 Series 5G also has the AI LinkBoost feature. This is a proprietary communication technology developed by OPPO that features a 360º Surround Antenna solution with nine individual antennas that promises great connectivity even in challenging scenarios.
On top of this, the phone has BeaconLink tech for enhanced Bluetooth connectivity. Finally, OPPO collaborated with Smart to put the Reno12 Series 5G to the test, and the phones delivered great results in four trials: weak signal, network switching, crowded area and recovery tests.
The OPPO Reno12 Series 5G will be launched in the Philippines on July 12, with the Reno12 5G coming in Astro Silver, Sunset Pink, and Matte Brown while the Reno12 Pro 5G will be available in Nebula Silver and Space Brown.
