Grinding Gear Games recently unveiled its Path of Exile update 3.25 titled Settlers of Kalguur, and it adds a load of new content which were revealed during the recent GGG Live stream. To be exact, players will get to play the new Settlers of Kalguur Challenge League which features city-building elements, alongside a range of balance and endgame improvements.
The highlight of this expansion is no doubt the new Challenge League. Here, players are tasked with helping Kalguuran pioneers in building the town of Kingsmarch. This town is going to be set up as the main point of trade between Wraeclast and Kalguur, though players will play a key role in building the town practically from scratch.
As such, this league will essentially be like a city-building game on top of Path of Exile’s core loop. To start, players will focus on mining exotic resources. Given that extracting these resources will attract all sorts of monsters, players will need to defeat enemies that approach.
Along with mining, players must also manage hired miners as well as the workers who will help construct the town. Players will be able to invest in farming and a disenchanter in the town, though one of the most important things that need to be built is the harbor. After all, Kingsmarch is set to be a major trading port.
With the harbor built, player will be able to facilitate trade shipments that reward all sorts of items and equipment. When trade is underway, players will also be able to buy and sell currency along with stackable items via the Currency Trade Market. Plus, players will be able to access the Runesmithing Table which can craft and recombine powerful weapons
This new Challenge League has a system with a lot of additions that, while complex, should make for an engaging experience. To give you a better idea of what to expect though, here’s the complete content reveal which goes in-depth:
Along with this meaty new League, the update will also add the new Warden class which will replace the Raider class. Yes, that means the Raider will no longer be available in this update — a decision that was made as the developers believed that the Ascendancy class was lacking.
The Warden will focus on elemental attacks, damage mitigation, and Tinctures which are an alternative to Flasks from the Affliction league. While activated, Tinctures grant a powerful buff, though they require a melee weapon to use.
There’s also the rework of the Gladiator class which keeps its powerful Bleeding and Block skills, but are now complemented by newly designed Retaliation Skills. These are active skills which require players to meet a certain condition in order to use them, though they are quite powerful.
Other changes include changes to Melee Skills, Block, Rage, Warcries, Banners, Bleed, Impale, and many more.
Also revealed were the improvements that will come to the Path of Exile PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. These include reduced load times, less texture pop-in, and an overall improvement in visuals via higher-res textures and an additional anti-aliasing pass.
Finally, Grinding Gear Games announced that the first Closed Beta Test for Path of Exile 2 is coming soon. Interested players can sign up now at the game’s website.
