After the phone’s recent reveal, Samsung also highlighted the new Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Samsung is no stranger to releasing special editions. For instance, there’s the Thom Browne Galaxy Z Fold5 which was released last year. For the latest Z Flip phone though, Samsung’s special edition is much more exclusive.
To be exact, the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition will be given to all Paris 2024 athletes only. Yes, that means the phone won’t be sold to anyone, meaning you’ll have to be a participant in this year’s Olympics to get one (unless you know someone participating in the games and is willing to give or sell you one).
So, what’s special about this version of the Z Flip6? For starters, it has the Olympics and Paralympics logos at the back, and it comes in a gold colorway. It will also come pre-loaded with a bunch of exclusive services and apps that promise to be useful for athletes, at least outside their competitions.
To add some extra luxury, each Z Flip6 will come with an exclusive Flipsuit Case that’s made in partnership with Parisian luxury house Berluti. This case is made with Venezia leather with a unique patina and a color scheme inspired by the Olympic rings.
Much like the standard Z Flip6, this special edition comes with AI features like Live Translation and Interpreter. It will also come with the Photo Assist and Instant Slow-Mo features which were highlighted during the recent Unpacked event.
Plus, each phone will come with an eSIM of 100GB 5G data for athletes, coupled with a bunch of official International Olympic Committee (IOC) apps.
Finally, the phone will also be part of the medal ceremony. That’s because athletes can use the Z Flip6 to capture moments at the podium — an interesting development given that athletes were not allowed to bring any personal belongings during medal ceremonies in previous Olympic events.
While it’s not available to everyone, the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition will be displayed to the public at Olympic rendezvous at Samsung showcases, including the one at Champs-Elysees 125.
