It has been over two years since the anime was initially revealed, and finally, the Witch Hat Atelier anime finally got its first trailer at Anime Expo 2024.
This new trailer gives us our first look at the highly-anticipated fantasy anime, and from the looks of it, the show holds a lot of promise in terms of both its visuals and music.
You can check out the anime’s trailer here:
The new trailer confirms that the anime studio Bug Films is handling production duties for this anime. Bug Films is the studio behind Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, an anime that suffered from production issues, leading to several lengthy delays. This has some fans worried, with many hoping that Witch Hat Atelier will have a smoother production with no delays.
Despite the issues, Bug Films delivered a good adaptation of Zom 100, so it’s no surprise that its new anime also looks great based on the trailer’s footage. What’s more, the trailer also confirms that Yuka Kitamura is composing the soundtrack. This is a big deal as Kitamura is the music composer of Elden Ring and the Dark Souls games.
As for Witch Hat Atelier, this upcoming anime is based on the manga by Kamome Shirahama that began back in July 2016. Since it began serialization, the manga has gotten a lot of praise, and it has also become a big hit as it had over 5 million copies in circulation as of July 2024.
Many manga and anime fans also consider it a member of the “big three” fantasy manga alongside Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and Delicious in Dungeon. Given this, fantasy fans (especially of both Frieren and Dungeon Meshi) should definitely watch Witch Hat Atelier when it comes out.
For now though, Witch Hat Atelier is only confirmed to come out in 2025, with no word yet on a specific release date.
