One of the biggest highlights of Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live is the new trailer for Civilization VII which showcased its gameplay and also revealed its February 11, 2025 release date.
While the game was announced previously, the new Gamescom trailer was the first time that players around the world got to see footage of the game in action. Based on the gameplay reveal trailer, the game looks familiar yet more dynamic than the previous game thanks to its updated art style.

The gameplay reveal trailer was fairly short, but fans were treated to an over 20-minute-long showcase on the series’ official YouTube channel.
There, details about the new Ages mechanic were shared. Perhaps the more exciting news is the fact that players will be able to select leaders and civilizations independently. That means players can mix and match gameplay bonuses by selecting different leaders for their preferred civilizations.

Finally, a new narrator reveal trailer was shared after Opening Night Live. This live-action trailer revealed that popular actress Gwendoline Christie is the game’s new narrator. Christie is best known for her roles in Game of Thrones and Star Wars. Based on her voice, she is an excellent choice as the game’s narrator.
