TiMi Studio Group and World’s Edge announced that Age of Empires Mobile is officially set to launch on October 17 worldwide.
The popular real-time strategy series is getting a new mobile game, and it’s co-developed by TiMi Studio Group (of Call of Duty: Mobile, Pokémon Unite) and World’s Edge (an Xbox Games Studio).
Interestingly, this is not the first mobile game entry in the series. After all, Age of Empires II got a mobile version way back in 2005 for Java mobile devices. Of course, mobile games then are wildly different from modern smartphone titles, so this new series entry is the first “modern” mobile entry in the series.
As for what to expect, Age of Empires Mobile will feature gameplay an array of single-player modes inspired by the mainline titles. The keyword here is “inspired” as this game features new mobile-specific gameplay mechanics and elements to better fit its platform.
“We expect players to mystify, mislead and surprise their enemies through the realistic, immersive, medieval gameplay featured in Age of Empires Mobile,” said TiMi Studios team leader and studio general manager Brayden Fan. “We’ve already seen alliances form and alliances crumble through our multi-month playtesting. Through it all, players have shown strategic wit, savvy teamwork and a passion for an entirely new Age of Empires experience.”
Ahead of the game’s launch, players attending Gamescom 2024 this week will also get to participate in on-site events at the Xbox booth. Plus, there will also be activities at the Level Infinite booth, with gameplay sessions also scheduled for press and content creators. As such, fans can expect more details about the game in the coming weeks.
Age of Empires Mobile will launch on October 17 on Android and iOS. Pre-registration is now open on the App Store and Google Play.
