Capcom highlights Ace Attorney Investigations Collection characters and unique gameplay mechanics

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is coming out in just one month.

Following its reveal back in June, Capcom shared more details about the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection, including the game’s characters and gameplay mechanics.

In case you missed its announcement, the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is a remastered pack of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth and Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor’s Gambit — two games that were initially released on the Nintendo DS.

While Miles Edgeworth was released outside Japan, Prosecutor’s Gambit was a Japan-only game. As such, this collection will be the first time that Ace Attorney fans will be able to properly play the second Investigations spin-off.

Given that this will be the first time that many fans will experience the two Investigations games, Capcom shared details about what to expect, including some key characters and mechanics.

Meet the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection characters

Miles Edgeworth may be a familiar face, but the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection games will feature new characters, including:

Franziska von Karma

The daughter of Edgeworth’s mentor, Manfred von Karma, Franziska became a prosecutor at the tender age of 13 in Germany and handles all of her cases with a triumphant crack of her whip. So what brings her back into Edgeworth’s orbit now?

Ema Skye

A young lady studying abroad in Europe to fulfill her dream of becoming a forensic investigator, Ema is home on vacation. And even though she’s supposed to be relaxing, she’s still got a test kit or two on her at the ready. She first met Edgeworth on a certain case in the past and has continued to look up to him ever since.

Eustace Winner

A rookie district prosecutor who likes to call himself “The Winner”, Eustace has been assigned to take over all of Edgeworth’s cases. He is obsessed with being the best in all things, and tries to be the first to solve his cases before anyone has a chance to say or do otherwise

Unique Game Systems for Solving Mysteries

Also unique to these two games (compared to the mainline Ace Attorney titles) are the “Mind Chess” and “Little Thief (Crime Scene Re-Creation)” game mechanics.

Little Thief (Crime Scene Re-Creation)

The Little Thief is a handy simulation device that can re-create a scene as it was at the time of the crime. This makes it an invaluable tool when investigating some difficult aspects of an incident.

“Mind Chess” Gameplay Mechanic

There’s also the Mind Chess mechanic which comes into play when players are faced with people who refuse to cooperate with the investigation.

How it works is that players must select the proper response when faced with certain people. The right response can be figured out by keeping an eye on the opponent’s words and expressions as they are questioned.

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection now available for pre-order

Finally, Capcom shared the five tracks set that will be available to players who pre-order the game.

The Ace Attorney Investigations special set is also now available for pre-order in Asia for the Switch. It includes:

  • Ace Attorney Investigations 1 & 2 game
  • Arranged Mini Album (5 songs in total)
  • Characters & Diorama Acrylic Stands (2-backgrounds)

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection will be released on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on September 6, 2024. The game will also be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S via backwards compatibility.
