Following its announcement back in January, Type-Moon finally revealed that the Fate/stay night Remastered visual novel will be released this week on PC and Nintendo Switch in English.
While Fate is a hugely popular franchise around the world, this visual novel is the one that started it all, making it a must-play for fans who continue to enjoy titles like Fate/Grand Order. Even for those who have already watched the Unlimited Blade Works series and Heaven’s Feel movies, the OG visual novel is still well worth playing, especially considering that the first route aka Saber’s Fate route has not gotten a proper anime adaptation (not counting the old Studio Deen anime).
What also makes this release special is that it is the first time that the original visual novel is getting an official English release. Before this, fans were only able to experience it in English via the unofficial fan translated version.
What’s also exciting for fans is that Type-Moon also announced Fate/hollow ataraxia Remastered. This remaster is currently in the works, and it’s also getting an official English release.
Fate/hollow ataraxia is considered as a sequel to the Fate/stay night visual novel, though its status in the series’ canon is a bit weird. While it technically takes place after Fate/stay night, it doesn’t exactly follow the ending of a specific route. Despite this, the game is still very much a must-play for fans who enjoyed the OG visual novel.
Fate/stay night Remastered will be released in English on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch on August 8, 2024. Meanwhile, the hollow ataraxia remaster is set to be released on the same platforms, though there’s no specific release date yet.
