Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024: The biggest reveals and trailers

From Borderlands 4 to Peter Molyneux's surprise new game, here are the biggest reveals at Gamescom Opening Night Live.

Gamescom is back, and it was once again opened with lots of new reveals and trailers at Opening Night Live 2024, hosted by Geoff Keighley.

The 2-hour showcase was packed with lots of new trailers and announcements, and as such, it would take way too long to run through all of them. Instead for those who weren’t able to watch the stream (or just want a refresher), here are the biggest reveals and trailers at Opening Night Live 2024.

Borderlands 4

The stream started with the exciting announcement of Borderlands 4, though the reveal only came with a short teaser. Still, this is great news for fans as it’s confirmation that the long-awaited next Borderlands installment is in the works.

Persona 3 Reload – Episode Aigis Challenge Battle

With Episode Aigis – The Answer coming very soon, Atlus shared a short teaser that reveals Joker as a bonus foe in the Persona 3 Reload Expansion Pass Wave 3. From the looks of it, Joker will be a tough optional boss.

Reanimal

Aside from Little Nightmares III, developer Tarsier Studios also has a new game coming out called Reanimal, and the Opening Night Live 2024 announcement trailer gave gamers a taste of what to expect.

DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO – 50 Days Away

With Sparking! ZERO releasing in just a bit over a month, a new trailer was shown at Opening Night Live. It’s not the longest trailer, but it does do well to get fans even more hyped up for the new “Budokai Tenkaichi” game.

Monster Hunter Wilds – Lala Barina and Scarlet Forest

Monster Hunter Wilds is perhaps one of the most anticipated games of 2025, and this new trailer shows off the new Scarlet Forest along with the fearsome new Lala Barina monster.

Civilization VII Gameplay Trailer

Following its recent teaser, Civilization VII finally got its gameplay reveal trailer at Gamescom. Based on this trailer, the game seems very much like a natural next step for the series, at least in terms of looks.

Secret Level

One of the most unique announcements during the event is Secret Level, the new video game-inspired anthology series coming to Prime Video. This series is helmed by Tim Miller (of Love, Death, and Robots fame), and it will feature stories from popular games like Armored Core, Dungeons & Dragons, Honor of Kings, Mega Man, Sifu, The Outer Worlds, and many more.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Another game that got a gameplay teaser is Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, the open-world action RPG that’s set in Central Bohemia. This is another short teaser, but it should be an exciting one for fans of the first game.

Masters of Albion

Masters of Albion is perhaps the most unexpected announcement during the event as it’s a new game from Peter Molyneux, the creator of games like Black and White and the first Fable. As expected, this is another god game that’s available to wishlist on Steam now, though there’s no word yet on a release date.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

One of the biggest highlights of the event was the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle trailer which revealed its December 9 release date on Xbox and PC. On top of this, the trailer showed off new footage, and even confirmed that the game will come to PS5 in Spring 2025.

Mafia: The Old Country

To end the event, a teaser for Mafia: The Old Country was shared. This new Mafia game will be set in 1900s Sicily, the birthplace of the infamous Sicilian Mafia.
