With the game’s release just a bit over a month away, the latest Atlus exclusive showcase for Metaphor: ReFantazio is now available online.
This is the latest in the Atlus exclusive showcase series, and it sheds new light on Metaphor: ReFantazio, including the various characters and world details. The stream features director Katsura Hashino as he dives deeper into this upcoming JRPG that Atlus and Persona fans should definitely check out.

If you’re an RPG fan, chances are that you’ve already seen or at least heard of this game. For those who haven’t though, Metaphor: ReFantazio is an upcoming game from Studio Zero, and it features the creative minds behind Persona 3, 4, and 5.
Its staff members include:
- Director: Katsura Hashino (Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne, Persona 3, 4, 5)
- Character Designer: Shigenori Soejima (Persona 3, 4, 5)
- Composer: Shoji Meguro (Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne, Persona 3, 4, 5)
- Concept artist Kazuma Koda (NieR:Automata)
- Gauntlet runner designer Ikuto Yamashita (Neon Genesis Evangelion)
As such, this game’s systems will be reminiscent of Persona, including its mix of turn-based RPG combat with social simulation elements. Of course, this has key differences from Persona, including its fantasy setting along with a wealth of gameplay additions.
Meanwhile, its story is described as:
Our story takes place in The United Kingdom of Buchronia, where the assassination of the king brings chaos and unrest to the land.
Then, one fateful day, a magic known only to the king called the Royal Magic is invoked and the world becomes embroiled in a royal tournament for the throne.
In the midst of this, the protagonist, together with his partner, the fairy Galica, must find a way to break the curse that has been placed on the prince that the kingdom believes to be dead. To do so, they depart on a journey across the vast land.
They will discover that in order to achieve their goal they must participate in the tournament for the throne, and this great task shall require them to ally with many friends and followers of the various tribes inhabiting the world.
Metaphor: ReFantazio will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 11, 2024.
