realme unveils ‘4-minute Miracle’ 320W SuperSonic Charge

A full battery in the same time it takes to make a cup of coffee.

Popular tech brand realme just unveiled their latest breakthrough in charging technology, the “4-minute Miracle” 320W SuperSonic Charge. The grand reveal took place at the realme 828 Fan Festival where this innovation promised to fully charge a smartphone in just 4 minutes and 30 seconds, setting a new industry standard for fast charging.

The company demonstrated this technology at its headquarters in Shenzhen, China, where over 100 global media representatives, fans, and mobile industry professionals witnessed a device reaching 26% charge in one minute and surpassing 50% in under two minutes. This development follows realme’s previous record of 240W charging introduced with the realme GT3 in February 2023.

To achieve this feat, realme invested two years in research and development, focusing on balancing high power, compact size, and safety. The result is the world’s first folded battery for smartphones, a quad-cell design with a capacity of 4420mAh. Each cell is less than 3mm thick, offering a 10% increase in capacity compared to traditional designs while maintaining a slim profile.

As for the expected safety concerns associated with high-power charging, these were promptly addressed through the introduction of the “AirGap” Voltage Transformer. This contact-free electromagnetic conversion technology isolates high voltage from the battery in case of severe faults, creating a virtually risk-free charging link. The ultra-compact transformer reduces voltage to 20V, achieving a power efficiency of approximately 98%.

The charger itself, dubbed the “Pocket Cannon,” boasts a power density of 3.3W per cubic centimeter. Despite its compact size, it supports multiple charging protocols, including UFCS (up to 320W), PD, and SuperVOOC, making it compatible with a wide range of devices. It features dual USB-C outputs, allowing simultaneous fast charging of a realme phone at 150W and a compatible laptop at 65W.

The brand also introduced six new technologies across AI, Performance, and Imaging categories. These include a solid-state button with sliding functionality for intuitive camera controls, an anti-reflective display inspired by moth eyes to reduce glare, and AI Motion Picture technology that can transform a single image into a 25-frame video. For gamers, realme has developed AI Gaming Super Resolution for enhanced visuals, 4D Game Vibration for immersive haptic feedback, and realme Holo Audio for customizable sound positioning.
