Months after its initial announcement, Netflix revealed that it will stream the upcoming Sakamoto Days anime in early 2025.
The Sakamoto Days anime was initially revealed back in May, though at the time, it wasn’t clear yet where the show will be streamed outside Japan. Now though, Netflix confirmed that it will stream the anime in January 2025. This was revealed by Netflix’s X (formerly Twitter) and the official YouTube channels.
Netflix being the streaming platform partner for this series is not too surprising given that the streaming giant has continued to get exclusive rights to plenty of popular anime. For instance, Netflix has streamed shows like Delicious in Dungeon worldwide, with the highly anticipated Dandadan also coming to the platform later this year.
This may be unexpected to some though, especially as Sakamoto Days is based on a popular Weekly Shonen Jump manga like Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer. Typically, Shonen Jump anime are streamed on Crunchyroll, so Netflix getting the rights is interesting in that regard.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Sakamoto Days is an action-comedy anime that’s based on a manga of the same name. It follows Taro Sakamoto, a former hitman who is now living a quiet life as a convenience store owner with his family. His quiet life is in danger though as the criminal underworld is after him.
Sakamoto Days will be streamed worldwide on Netflix in January 2025. For now, there’s no specific release date yet.
