The Elder Scrolls: Castles launches worldwide this September

This new Elder Scrolls game is like Fallout Shelter but in Tamriel.

The Elder Scrolls VI may still be years away, but series fans can look forward to The Elder Scrolls: Castles which is coming out this September worldwide – at least for those who are into more casual mobile games.

That’s because Castles is not an action RPG like Blades or a dungeon crawler like older titles like the lesser-known Travels games. Instead, Castles is a simulation game that’s basically Fallout Shelter but in Tamriel.

In the game, players are in charge of managing a castle, and they must build it up and assign subjects to various tasks as players would in Fallout Shelter. As each day is one in-game year, Castles spans a long time, meaning players must also make decisions to ensure that a dynasty rules peacefully. Yes, that also means players will have a hand in choosing new rules that will take the throne.

The Elder Scrolls: Castles will be released on September 10 on Android and iOS devices worldwide, though the game is already available in select countries, including the Philippines.

As it’s already released in the PH, we already tried the game out, and it should appeal to simulation game fans, especially those who loved playing Fallout Shelter. That’s because it scratches that same itch. Though we do wish that it had a stronger connection to the world of Elder Scrolls. Sure, it’s also set in Tamriel, but it does feel a bit isolated from the world, at least in the earlier parts of gameplay.

For those in countries where the game isn’t out yet, pre-registration for Castles is already available, with rewards up for grabs when certain milestones are met. If 2 million players pre-register ahead of the launch, players will get Skyrim’s Ulfric Stormcloak as a Legendary Subject.
