Fresh after releasing its Oshi no Ko collection, Uniqlo revealed a new UT collab with the popular Japanese artist Kenshi Yonezu for 2024. For this collab though, the t-shirts feature artwork from Kenshi Yonezu’s discography.
A few years ago, Uniqlo released a Kenshi Yonezu collection for his Stray Sheep album which was released in 2020. Now, Uniqlo has teamed up with the artist once again, this time featuring a more diverse set of designs.
The collection was revealed on Uniqlo Japan’s website, and it features six t-shirt designs, each featuring artwork drawn by Yonezu himself. The artworks also serve as the cover art for his album and single releases.
Here’s a rundown of all six designs:
First is a blue-shirt featuring the album art of his 2020 album Stray Sheep. For Kenshi Yonezu superfans who missed the previous Uniqlo collab, this shirt is a must-have.
Next is a yellow tea featuring his artwork for the “Pop Song” single. This song was made for a campaign by PlayStation, and its accompanying music video is heavily inspired by video games.
Kenshi Yonezu was tapped to perform the song “M87” which served as the them of the Shin Ultraman live-action film. This t-shirt features Yonezu’s Ultraman artwork for the song.
Chainsaw Man’s opening song “Kick Back” is perhaps one of Kenshi Yonezu’s biggest hits. As such, it’s also part of the new Uniqlo collection. The Chainsaw Man shirt features the Denji single cover art printed on a white tee.
Final Fantasy XVI’s ending credits was accompanied by the song “Tsuki o Miteita (Moongazing)” by Kenshi Yonezu, and this t-shirt is for the song. At the front of this black tee is the FFXVI logo, and at the back is the song’s wolf cover art which is a reference to Torgal, Clive’s loyal frost wolf.
Rounding out the collection is a white t-shirt featuring the single cover art of “Spinning Globe,” Kenshi Yonezu’s emotional ending theme for Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli’s The Boy and the Heron.
The new Uniqlo x Kenshi Yonezu collection will be released in Japan in mid-September 2024. For now, there’s no word yet on a release date outside Japan. Given that most UT collections are released internationally, chances are that we’ll see this collection get released in Uniqlo stores across the world soon.
