You can check out the full show on the official PlayStation YouTube channel. It’s a stacked 40 minutes of pure game announcements. What’s not to love about that?
There are so many to talk about from this State of Play but here are the most prominent ones we’d like to highlight:
Ghost of Yotei, sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, finally revealed
This one was placed at the end of the presentation as the final mic drop moment but we’re putting it front and center! Ghost of Tsushima was one of the best games of the PS4 and PS5. It was a refreshing take on the open world formula set in a visually striking Japan. Jin Sakai’s story of going from honorable Samurai to the feared Ghost was gripping from start to end. Now we get a continuation of the franchise, in the form of a new protagonist and settting with Ghost of Yotei
Taking place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of the first game, you’ll play as Atsu in a story about an underdog taking on vengeance. Built from the ground up to take full advantage of the PS5 and PS5 Pro, Ghost of Yotei is looking to push the visual boundaries further, the same way the original did when it released.
Ghost of Yotei will also mark the beginning of a franchise with at least one movie and other spinoffs planned in the near future.
Monster Hunter Wilds gets a new look and a release date
After the massive success of Monster Hunter World in bringing the franchise to western popularity, Capcom is finally releasing a follow up with Monster Hunter Wilds. And now we know that we can all get our hands on it on February 28. 2025!
A new trailer was released showing off a bit more on what the narrative will look like alongside some incredible hunting gameplay with the new flagship monster, Arkveld. Hunters can jump in on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Microsoft Windows all on day one with crossplay functionality.
Horizon Zero Dawn gets a remaster
As if the original version wasn’t already stunning enough, Guerilla Games and Nixxes Software are releasing Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered for PS5 and PC on October 31, 2024. Original owners of the PS4 version can upgrade for $9.99.
With over 10+ hours of re-recorded mocap and conversations, 3D audio, DualSense features, PS5 Pro enhanced, and targeting the same graphical quality of Forbidden West, this is the definitive way to experience Zero Dawn whether it be your first time or a returning playthrough.
Speaking of Horizon, LEGO Horizon Adventures also has a confirmed release date of November 14, 2024.
Extended look at Dragon Age: The Veilguard
About a month left before its full release, Bioware gives us another look at Dragon Age: The Veilguard in the form of a boss fight against a blighted dragon. It still is a spectacle to behold. It’s looking like RPG fans are in for a treat with this one.
Alan Wake 2 DLC
Alan Wake 2 was one of the best games of 2023 so of course they’re going to keep the momentum going. The Alan Wake 2 Lake House expansion gets an appropriately trippy and creepy reveal trailer. It shows glimpses of the new location on the shores of Cauldron Lake. You’ll be playing as FBC agent Kiran Estevez, portrayed by Janina Gavankar. Not much details have been revealed, and probably for the better. The Lake House will be released sometime in October.
New Astro Bot content
One of the most exciting platformers of the year gets 5 all-new speed run levels and 10 new bots to rescue which includes collaborations with Stellar Blade and Helldivers 2 coming later this year for free!
Palworld on PS5
One of the most surprising hits of last year is finally out on PS5 today. Millions of players fell in love with Palworld with its survival mechanics alongside an open world filled with dungeons, raids, and “Pals” to hunt and capture.
Hitman World of Assassination comes to PSVR2
Ever wanted to be an assassin front and center? Now’s your chance. The critically acclaimed Hitman World of Assassination can now be played through in first person with the PSVR2 this December.
Metro Awakening VR announced
The Metro games are one of the most immersive FPS titles ever released and now, the franchise takes it a step further by bringing the dystopian world to VR with Metro Awakening on November 7, 2024.
Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 and 2 finally gets a remaster
Two absolute classics gets a remaster for modern consoles on December 10, 2024. This is just in time for the 25th anniversary of the first game’s release. Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver is about to bring back so many gamers’ childhoods, and allow newer ones to experience what the old heads have been screaming about all these years.
Dynasty Warriors Origins release date
One of the best franchises to absolutely destress to as you slice and dice your way through hordes of armies, Dynasty Warriors Origins is charging its way to gamers on January 17, 2025.
All that and so much more with this September’s State of Play. It’s going to be a very busy next few months for gamers as there seems to be a release for everyone to enjoy.
Also don’t worry guys, Bloodborne Remastered is coming in the next one. Right?
