After its announcement recently, Sony confirmed that the PS5 30th Anniversary Edition consoles won’t be released in the Philippines. Instead, only the two DualSense controllers will be launched.
To be exact, Sony revealed details about its 30th Anniversary Collection release plans via the official PlayStation Blog. The complete release details are as follows:
- PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle – Available in: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia
- PlayStation Portal Remote Player – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition (standalone) – Available in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia
- DualSense Edge Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition (standalone) – Available in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam
- DualSense Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition (standalone) – Available in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam
All these items will be available for pre-order beginning September 26, 2024 at 10 AM local time.
Meanwhile, the incredibly limited PS5 Pro bundle will only be released via a pre-order contest in Singapore, with the contest also beginning on September 26 at 10 AM.
As for why the PS5 consoles won’t be released in the PH, it’s likely that both versions don’t come with a Blu-ray disc drive. Given that the PlayStation Network doesn’t officially support the Philippines, this is probably the key reason. After all, the PS5 Digital Edition has not gotten an official release.
Of course, we may see imports of the other PS5 30th Anniversary items in the Philippines, though it remains to be seen if it will be carried by certain stores.
