After its announcement back in April, SEGA has finally released NatsumeAtari’s Shadow of the Ninja on PlayStation and Switch.
Specifically, this classic action game remake was released on August 29, and in Asia, SEGA has signed a sub-publishing agreement with NatsumeAtari to release the game in physical editions.

For many classic action game fans, this release is no doubt an exciting one, though you’d be forgiven if you’re not familiar with this. After all, Shadow of the Ninja was originally released way back in the early 90s for the NES.
If you’re one of those who haven’t played the original, this game is a sidescrolling action title that’s set in a future America. There, players take on the role of ninjas who are tasked with assassinating the country’s dictator.
While this remake plays similarly to the original, it features updated visuals that combine modern polish with the retro late 80s to early 90s aesthetic of the original. What’s more, the game’s key visuals and character designs are once again helmed by Dynamic Production, a studio manages manga artists, novelists, and manga authors, including the legendary Go Nagai (of Devilman and Mazinger Z fame).
Shadow of the Ninja is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. For more info, visit the game’s official website.
