AirAsia launches its first SEGA Sonic the Hedgehog flight

AirAsia's Sonic the Hedehog plane is finally flying the friendly skies!

Following its reveal earlier this month, AirAsia celebrated the launch of its new Sonic the Hedgehog livery via its maiden flight from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok.

The first flight aboard flight D7 170 happened yesterday, October 17. There, lucky passengers on the Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok flight got to see the plane in all its glory, complete with its eye-catching Sonic-themed interiors.

Along with the design, those onboard also got to enjoy Sonic-themed goodies and an exclusive in-flight experience, including a serving of Sonic’s Golden Ring Cakes. This cake is a mango and lemon-flavored dessert that came paired with a Fizzy Iced Yuzu.

Finally, flyers also got to take pictures with Sonic and Shadow, enjoy Sonic-inspired installations, and take home some cute collectibles.

Regarding the plane’s first flight, Izal Azlee, Head of IP Development of AirAsia brand co., said: “We are thrilled to bring Sonic and friends to the skies. It’s a dream come true for us to highlight iconic characters on board and offer this unique experience. Now, not only can everyone fly but also enjoy flying with their favourite characters on AirAsia flights around the region.”

The Sonic livery is part of AirAsia’s ‘The Colour of Connection’ campaign. Aside from Sonic, the campaign also features a collaboration with ATLUS for an Airbus A320 with a Persona 5 Royal livery.
