With the game’s full release just days away, SEGA has now revealed that Mephiles appears as a boss in Sonic X Shadow Generations.
In case you’re a newer Sonic fan or you just need a refresher, Mephiles the Dark is a major antagonist in the franchise, and he first appeared in the 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog game. Instead of taking control of Sonic though, players will take on the role of Shadow, and they must use his Doom Morph ability to go toe-to-toe with this fearsome villain.
Along with Mephiles, SEGA also shared new screenshots of four levels in Sonic X Shadow Generations. The first two are playable in the Shadow Generations campaign:
- Sunset Heights
- A city under siege by a colossal Death Egg Robot. Use Shadow’s Chaos Control to evade the machine’s assault.
- Radical Highway
- A towering red overpass still under construction. Speed down the highway against a nighttime cityscape.
Meanwhile, here are two levels that should be familiar to fans who have played Sonic Generations before:
- Rooftop Run
- An urban landscape where balloons, and sometimes confetti, decorate the skies. Dash across the orange rooftops to your destination.
- City Escape
- A hilly downtown district. Skate down steep streets and watch out for trucks in this fan-favorite stage.
Sonic X Shadow Generations will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S. Xbox One, Switch, and PC on October 25, 2024. Though the game is playable now for those who buy the premium versions.
