It has only been a bit over a week since the Metaphor: ReFantazio launch, but its director has revealed that the studio’s next project is already being made.
To be exact, Famitsu (via @Genki_JPN) recently released an interview featuring the game’s director Katsura Hashino alongside Keiichiro Toyama, the creator of Silent Hill and Gravity Rush.
During their discussion, Toyama asked Hashino what’s next for him following Metaphor. After all, the game has become a big hit both critically and commercially. In response, the Metaphor: ReFantazio director said that they have already started work on their next title.
Hashino didn’t share much about what this next title will be, and given that Metaphor has just been released, we’ll likely have to wait some years before more info gets shared.

“- Not as Atlus, but for yourself, are you thinking about what to make next after Metaphor?

For now, we can only guess what game it will be. Given the success of Metaphor, we won’t be surprised if it turns out to be a sequel, or at least another entry to the franchise.
In case you haven’t played it yet, Metaphor: ReFantazio is out now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. If you need more convincing though, check out our glowing review of the game as it’s one of the few titles that we have given a perfect score.
