Metaphor: ReFantazio sells over 1 million units in first day

Atlus has struck gold with Metaphor: ReFantazio!

After getting rave reviews, Atlus announced that Metaphor: ReFantazio has officially sold over 1 million units in just its first day.

Yes, Metaphor: ReFantazio was launched worldwide only today, and it already got over 1 million copies sold — a massive feat especially considering that this is a brand-new IP. Of course, it helps that the game was made by Studio Zero which features Persona and Shin Megami Tensei veterans.

To celebrate this milestone, SEGA and Atlus shared this special illustration:

Another thing that likely helped the game is its incredible reception. A few days ago, reviews for the game were finally shared online, and most of them had lots of positive things to say about the game. In fact, Metaphor: ReFantazio is now one of the top-rated games of 2024 according to Metacritic, making it a strong Game of the Year contender.

In our review, we gave Metaphor a 10/10 as we believe that it sets a new standard for JRPGs thanks to its gameplay that pushes the Atlus RPG formula to perfection. It also helps that the game is incredibly stylish, not to mention that its story has a clear and thoughtful message while still being an engaging fantasy adventure.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is out now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
