With the game’s release just months away, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Wilds is getting an open beta on all platforms this November.
While demos of the game were playable in major events like Tokyo Game Show and gamescom asia 2024, this open beta will let players across the world try out the latest entry in the beloved franchise. The best part is that players who aren’t subscribed to PlayStation Plus or Game Pass Core/Ultimate will still be able to play the open beta.
The open beta begins on November 1, though it will only be available for a few days. During the beta period, players will have access to two quests, along with the game’s extensive character creation feature.
What to Expect at the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test
During the open beta, players can play through the game’s opening along with a hunting quest. But what will no doubt delight plenty of fans is the fact that the demo will also let players experience the game’s character creation.
For this new game, Monster Hunter is getting its most extensive character customization feature yet. Here, players will be able to set their body types (with no gameplay changes being affected based on body type). Yes, you’ll also be able to customize your Palico.
As a bonus, players can transfer their open beta character creation info to the game’s full version if they buy the game on the same platform. Plus, there will be no limits to the character creation during the beta, so players can create and redo their characters and Palico as much as they can. Do note that only the character info will be carried over and not the game progress.
As for the actual gameplay, players can first access the Story Experience Quest which lets them experience the beginning. This features cutscenes, the basic tutorial, and the Chatacabra hunt — the game’s first hunt.
Next, players can try out the Doshaguma Hunt Quest where they must try and defeat the Alpha Doshaguma. Both this quest and the Story Experience Quest will feature online multiplayer functionality, though they can also be played with up to three NPC support hunters instead.
