Having the new realme 13 Pro+ 5G in our possession for a hot minute has managed to give us quite the eye-opening Tokyo experience. With this smartphone in tow, most of the difficulty stemmed from deciding what exactly to point and shoot at. Being amongst the bright lights in the big city can be a bit much to take in–even if it isn’t your first time walking around. There’s always something new to see–something cool to explore. This only means at least a hundred photos in your library, which are all too good to choose from.
Worry not, for we’ll do our best.
Now, we’ve gone in-depth with this smartphone, and our colleagues have taken it to task in different situations. So far, we’ve all been happy with the results. Those dual 50MP Sony OIS Cameras get the job done masterfully, and with utmost ease. The 8 MP ultrawide and 32 MP selfie camera were no slouches either, providing a formidable combination of lenses for any situation.
Going up to 40X zoom with very little noise and a whole lot of stability is invaluable when taking snapshots–recreational or otherwise.
We were rather fortunate enough to find a place somewhat isolated from the usual Tokyo hustle and bustle. All the fanfare is great in moderate doses during the afternoon, but mornings and evenings akin to the countryside life were just as enjoyable. Soaking in the morning sun and enjoying the slight chill at dusk were welcome experiences that made us forget the daily humidity we had back home.
While we say that it’s quieter and cozier where we stayed, it was by no means bereft of any activity. There was much to explore–and thus, enjoy around the neighborhood. From brightly lit streets lined with kombini and ramen places, to some interesting, licensed graffiti for store shutters, the visuals were intriguing, to say the least. Night photography anyone?
We implore you to set your expectations with these particular shots–which were takin with the hands of an absolute scrub. However, one can’t deny that the smartphone itself can make up for any lack of skill on the shooter’s end by producing some photos worth remembering.
It’s also worth noting that the AI-driven features are also quite nice to have, should your view be a bit–obstructed. It’s art appreciation, all day, every day. Thank you, AI Eraser.
As we move on from the peaceful, simple joys of the neighborhood, we get to work. Tokyo Game Show was the name of the game, and the storied Makuhari Messe was ground zero for all things tech and gaming over the weekend. Prior to that, we had a bit of fun at the annual SEGA Party which kicks off a day before the event proper. From hanging out with some of our favorite content creators, to jamming along with “Lyn-sama” Inaizumi, the party was–indeed, poppin’ off.
Come game day, the tasks at hand were priority one. That being said, one couldn’t say that said duties were neglected. We did take the photos that were deemed necessary for decent coverage–and they turned out rather nicely.
One would be remiss to neglect all the other wonderful scenery along the several halls at the event. Beauty comes in a variety of forms, after all.
The first couple of days at the Tokyo Game Show were both tiring, and exciting. Everyone was in high spirits, bringing their A-game, and showing off whatever they had. There were many halls to traverse, and much content to go around. Life is all about prioritizing what’s important, and locking in. The myriad of companies and publishers had wonderful displays and equally wonderful attendants assisting anyone who was interested.
No, we didn’t get too distracted. No, we weren’t overly interested. What would give you that idea, pray tell?
Now, Tokyo Game Show may have been the primary reason for our trip, but it was by no means the only reason to have a bit of fun. The other days of our stay were dedicated to making the most out of our few days in Japan. Best believe, that’s exactly what we did.
We also believe that most of the photos in our album require context, so we’ll stick to what’s self-explanatory–to avoid confusion, and possible cancellation. First off, the food was splendid.
With such an efficient transport system and walkable streets, it’s no wonder we found ourselves just about everywhere, every day. Whether as a collective or individually, we di what we could to cover the most Tokyo surface area. We also found quite a few interesting sights–both old and new.
From buzzing Akihabara, to the business center of Shibuya, to Ikebukuro’s nocturnal scenery–we definitely had our fill. As for those of us who had cash to burn, there was Ginza.
So many sights, so many sounds–far too much activity to decide on what to shoot. This is where the realme 13 Pro+ 5G definitely shines, though. Alongside such wonderful shooters, you get a generous 512 GB of storage.
We were definitely preoccupied with a few work tasks, but if you happen to be on vacation, and have nothing else to worry about aside from having the time of your life, a few hundred photos won’t make a dent on your album capacity. If you want to see more of what we experienced, check this out.
As the days winded down, we hit our last few stops and caught the best spectacle of all–teamLabs Borderless. In what could only be described, succinctly, as a feast for your eyes, we were treated to the most artistic light show we’ve seen in a long time.
Make no mistake, though. Our lack of photos doesn’t mean we didn’t go into a snapshot frenzy while we were inside. We just figured it would be more apropos to show it all via some sweet, cinematic video. Of course, all of which was shot using the realme 13 Pro+ 5G.
See, the cameras aren’t just for photos–and I realize how ridiculous that last statement sounded. While you’re limited to 4K at 30 fps, the camera’s OIS makes for some easy video capture, even more so once you crank it down to 1080p at 30 fps–allowing you to utilize 0.6 ultrawide.
Also, did we mention how often we charged during our 10-day stay? Twice. Two times from 0 to 100%. Now, take note that most of the activities involving the phone were limited to content creation and social media. Still, if you consider all the footage we shot, draining a full battery only two times in the span of ten days is not bad at all. That 5200 mAh battery with 80W SUPERVOOC charging came in clutch.
All things considered, one thing was abundantly clear. Had we not brought along the realme 13 Pro+ 5G, we wouldn’t have had as much fun capturing memories as we did. Being so thin, light, and easy to use made for some cool shots at a split-second’s notice. Most of the photos we featured here weren’t carefully planned out, as most spontaneous situations happen to be. While you won’t always be prepared–personally, for cool moments that arise, you’ll at least have enough time to reach into your pocket, and snap away while it transpires.
If you’re in search of a smartphone that not only captures your attention from the get-go, but also any memorable instances that might come across your purview, the realme 13 Pro+ 5G is the real deal.
We’ll neither tell you it’s the next best thing since camera phones were invented. nor claim it’s the end-all and be-all of mobile photography. It’s a superb upper midrange phone that captures some of the clearest near to long distance photos and videos while not having a steep learning curve to do so. It provides all the necessary tools, along with some nice AI-powered bells and whistles that can further enhance your photographic experience.
Looking to start that mobile photography career or wish to flex those skills as hobby–and want to start out strong? We highly recommend you check this smartphone out.
